In the Path of Pilgrims

Last Sunday in Church there was this group of foreign teenagers in the choir section and the two priests that were with them co-celebrated the Mass with our foreigner priest. I initially thought that since its summer season for them they were probably out on a Catholic tour. Our priest kept saying that they were from Australia yet I wondered why they hardly spoke a world of English.

When one of the priests read the Gospel he had a very thick accent that I could hardly understand what chapter and verse he was reading. So I got to thinking that he must be a foreign priest in Australia.

During the Mass I was having flashes of wanting to cry, similar to the time when I attended that healing Mass on Easter Sunday because the Holy Spirit was in our midst.

When the leader of the group talked upfront she thanked the Filipino’s for giving them a warm welcome and stay. She said that they were from Marche Italy and decided to stop for a week in the Philippines in order to immerse themselves with the hard life here and that they were on their way to World Youth Day in Australia. She said that hopefully we could share some of “our” Holy Spirit with “their” Holy Spirit to take with them to World Youth Day. I don’t know what she meant by that because some of it could have been lost in translation.

Personally I believe that the Holy Spirit was with them on their journey to meet the Pope at World Youth Day 2008. I believe too that what I felt was similar to what travellers must have felt when they came in contact with the three magi who were on their way to meet the newly born Christ in Bethlehem as they were guided by God.

On other fronts, I had a discussion with my relative with regards to faith and religion and his/her seeking for answers. I guess I was never really able to properly chime in my 2 cents because I had to leave right away. For me, the best person to answer your question about faith is God Himself. Pray that the answers you are seeking may be found. Pray, but the most import of all… Listen….

Reminds me of the trailers for “Don’t Mess with the Zohan.” Look for the Australia bit. ;-)
