Why I want my Child to be Tall

It’s no secret that I’m doing everything possible to ensure that my son becomes tall….right now he is on a daily dose of Cherifer, multivitamins and ensured that he gets at least 10 hours of sleep a day (that last prereq is hard to enforce on a year old toddler.)

It’s not really because I want him to be a future basketball superstar (still? *snicker*), its more on because I’ve read that tall people are more successful in life.

Although its natural as a parent to want your kids to be successful, its up to them to define what “success” is. So as a doting father and mother, you want to make sure that the “leg-up” they need is within reach. So if he isn’t as gifted as the other kids, at least his height will give him the confidence he needs. Now I wonder if I should train him to be left handed also? *kidding*

I couldn’t find exactly anymore the article I’ve read before but I think you can take Steven D. Levitt’s word for it instead. He along with Stephen J. Dubner wrote the brilliant book entitled Freakonomics.

It is well documented that tall people tend to hold high-status jobs and earn high wages. There are many possible explanations for this: height is a useful job attribute for some reason; other people mistakenly think tall people are more intelligent than they really are; being tall in high school gives you the confidence to succeed in the work force; etc.

Case and Paxson suggest a completely new explanation for the link between height and high wages: taller people earn more because they are smarter on average. They document that, as early as age three (before schooling has had a chance to play a role), taller children perform significantly better on cognitive tests. These higher scores persist through childhood.[source]

With regards to the Cherifer type he consumes, we initially had him on Cherifer Drops which was applied by dropper. Then our doctor suggested that we switch him to Cherifer Syrup already. He immediately took a distaste to the latter. My wife found out why, it was because Cherifer Syrup had a slight bitter after taste. So he was back on the Drops.
