A Passion for Dogs - onedogworld.com

Our Dog Site is finally up. It took me roughly 4 months to finish, but in actuality it took 2 months to code the whole thing. This has been a group effort, with friends who are hardcore dog lovers.
I always had a passion for dogs, having grown up surrounded by all kinds of breeds. From Toy Dogs, to Hunting Dogs and also Working Dogs. I was lucky enough to have had a Dad who loved dogs, so I guess that trait was passed/inherited. I remember my Mom complaining that when they were newly wed she had to get used to my Dad’s habit of letting the dog sleep on their bed. Unlucky for her at that time my Dad’s dog was a gigantic German Shepard.
I grew up a witness to the type of love that a dog conveys to his human companion. Which is a sacrificing love. I’ve seen how dogs fling themselves at danger without regard for their own safety in defense of their human. Our first pug died protecting one of us from a cobra, which had sneaked into our house.
When I walk around our neighborhood with my son, our guard dog accompanies us. I’ve seen him single handedly take on a whole pack of dogs who are in our path. I’ve witnessed how my old Labrador Retriever stayed a whole week by my side when I was bedridden with a disease. Sadly I was not able to return the favor, when he was afflicted with a fatal disease that caused his liver to fail. I cried my eyes out when I was informed of his death.
Dogs also seem to be the only animals that act happy whenever they see you come home. Take for instance our dogs, I leave the house for a 15 minute errand and when I come back they all rush towards me as if they haven’t seen me for a week.
So I guess in my own little way this is my homage to all those four legged friends who’ve helped shape me as I was growing up.
