Good Stuff: Steamed Saba and Guinamos

I just love eating this stuff ever since I was a young boy… basically its steamed unripe cardava banana with fermented small fish as the sauce (or “dip” if you want to be modern *snicker*)…
An entire plate I can consume by myself, which definitely doesn’t bode well for my girth… people say its bland, but I get a full tummy and a warm fuzzy feeling inside after eating this… and the best thing about it? It was harvested in our backyard.
Hmmmmm, with that I just have to say…. Bon Apetite and Itadakimasu, folks!

enjoy the bananas. Not a big fan of the fishy stuff! I’m thinking is similar to Bugong?

Hi trench!,
Yeah, similar to bagoong. the name ginamos and bagoong are usually interchanged from what I know. But usually for me, I call the fish based one ginamos, while the shrimp based as bagoong

Bakit ganun yung saging.. matigas? Or hindi palang hinog? Ganun ba talaga? or pwedeng hinog.
Pero masarap siya i-dip sa guinamos!
A first time for me. Only here in davao ba yan?

Yup, its unripe. If you eat it fresh off the pot it won’t be as hard.
Not sure if its unique to Davao only though
