Right-Hand Turn
A business strategy to veer away from popular convention and the existing demand market despite the existence of a healthy market share for the business.
What makes the right-hand turn such a gamble is the fact that you are redirecting all resources to the effort. So the product must really be worth it.
Intel is a proponent of this business strategy, with their successfull venture into dual-core processors. Then again, it’s because they have such a strong foothold in their core business that almost every product they release becomes a success. The benefit to them is that the main demand shifted to this newer technology and their competitors were left scampering to catch up.
