Excessive Greed

Its been a long time since political flavor has been added to the regular Sunday sermon at the Church I attend, but because of this ZTE scandal we parishioners got served a full buffet.

The presiding priest gave an interesting commentary on the ZTE scandal from a different perspective. He said that if the commission was worth $130 million, then that could amount to roughly P5 billion.

He asked us, with P5 Billion, how many mouths can we feed? How many students can we send to school?, How many schools can we build? How many lives can we lift out of poverty?

What would you do with P5 Billion? That is enough money for countless lifetimes for one man. But the reality is, God only gave us one life to live on this earth. And the P5 Billion?, you can’t take it with you when you die. And when you die and meet judgement, God won’t ask you how much you made or what you had, but rather how did you help your fellow man in his Name.

So if you think about it. P10 means a paid fare, P100 means a full meal for a day, P1000 is a full meal for a family for a week, P1,000,000 is a roof to call your own, and P10,000,000 is retirement…. while P1,000,000,000? …. just greed….

Yep, Greed… Hardwork and Ambition’s twisted sibling…

What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?
[Matthew 16:26]
