SmartBro Scam?
Yet another chapter in my continuing love-hate relationship with my SmartBro connection. For about a week now my internet has been intermittent. When I need it most in the morning its not there. So I end up missing out on some very important tasks as well as replying to some very urgent email.
I noticed this problem started occurring when SmartBro decided to change their DNS servers, as evidenced by the new IP addresses at the network table. Who knows what else they changed while they were at it.
I called up tech support about a week ago and they said they would send somebody over. So far Nada.
This time the connection has become worse. It degraded to no connection during the day while having connection at night past 5PM. Today it’s been no connection the whole day save for an hour.
I called up tech support today to report my problem and guess what? my internet connection went back on. A few checks and my connection was humming with sporadic timeouts only. Despite that they said that they would still send somebody over. When we put the phone down I was able to go online for about 10 minutes before the connection went out again. Its a given that my connection was intermittent, what boggles me is how come the connection goes back online when I call up tech support then lose it a few minutes later after the test?
Conspiracy Theorists would assume that I’m on a lousy connection then I get switched over to a good connection when they do their tests. After the test I get switched back to the lousy connection all over again. Its probably because I’m still on the cheapest plan (P788/month) and didn’t bother to get suckered into upgrading so they stick me on the most congested pipe with the least available bandwidth so that I get suckered into upgrading.
But I don’t like playing Conspiracy Theorist, so tomorrow I’ll head on down to the city and shop for another ISP.
Update: Its back up again, God knows for how long. So I have just enough time to post this rant.

Just goes to show that it pays to blog about your crappy internet connection… hehehe
I am also a smartbro subscriber and I always got pissed off with the conection! Bcoz of that, me and my dad plan to apply the DSL after this month contract.
