Renewed Confidence
My wife and I were pondering why my son suddenly lost his confidence in his ability to walk by himself. Before he wouldn’t hesitate to let go of either our hand and fly solo ~ ala “squirt” in finding Nemo, then lately he didn’t like letting go when we were out walking.

So what we did was try to let him regain his confidence by allotting time out on the lawn to encourage him to walk on his own whenever we go for our daily walks.
I would be on one end of the lawn and my wife on the other. From there I would call him to come to me from my wife’s position and vice-versa. So far no dice once the distances got more than 5 ft. You could get him to walk one time, but to repeat it, he wouldn’t budge.
Today we got the surprise of our life when all of a sudden he started walking on his own. It started with my wife letting him sit down on the lawn and then asking him if he could stand up on his own. Once he did that he started running around the place. Sometimes picking up his toy and giving it to me or coming over to me to have a look at the camera. He would brush away my wife’s hand whenever my wife would try to assist him in his walking because he wanted to do it on his own.
I guess the main reason he regained his confidence was because of his new ability to stand on his own.
I learned a new lesson today from my son. That even though they fall and stumble sometimes, all they need is your continued support and encouragement for them to pick themselves up and right themselves.
Update: I know I promised not to post pictures of my son anymore for his privacy, but heck the gravity of the milestone just calls for some visual proof. So I’ll bend the rule and ask forgiveness from him while I’m at it.

Thanks Sunjun!, yep our little pride and joy is starting to become a handful in some aspects
Wait for a few days and you’ll hear him recite a Sahkespearean sonnet already. Hehe. Hay, how time flies. He’s getting bigger and bigger each day. About posting his pics, it’s just okay. In fact, I stumbled upon a PBASE account where the photographer features his son EVERYDAY. He posts a pic of his son or something related to him every single day for a year. That’s cool, no?
Hahaha I wouldn’t want to pressure him with the Shakespeare Sonnet.
Yep, time sure does fly by so fast.
we experienced that with our niece too. Pero yung sa niece ko, nadapa sha so I think she kinda got scared a little and didn’t want to walk na but after a while she got over it and started walking on her own na ulit
