If the Qualification for Basketball Referee’s were similar to Dog Show Judges

I just learned an interesting tidbit about the Dog Show judges, owing to my family and I spending too much time with fellow Dog Lovers…. hehehe. Now let’s compare apples and oranges by comparing a Dog Show Judge versus a Basketball Referee.

In order to be a Dog Show judge you have to have to know the different specs for each particular breed that a show dog will be judged against. Ok fine, given that a Referee has to know the basketball rules for a particular league. But did you know that a Dog Show judge has to have bred at least a certain number of Champion Show Dogs before they can be qualified to be a judge? I think 15 was the limit set for Philippine Judges of the PCCI.

Wow if we added that criteria to Philippine Basketball Referee’s, that would mean that they would have had to have won at least “X” number championships before they can be considered qualified to be a referee. It would probably mean too that we would have referee’s with salaries equaling player salaries.

The upside is that no player would dare refute his whistle, owing to his “street cred” *snicker*
