Health, Wealth, Happiness and Peace of Mind
During a Wedding of a College Buddy in Davao, one of the wedding organizers passed around a dedication book for the couple. Once it got to me I wrote on it “Health, Wealth, Happiness and Peace of Mind” then signed my John Hancock.
When one friend saw it, he thought for a moment then signed his name under mine then he grunted that I used up all the great lines with that dedication. The other guys followed suit, signing their names under his.
That practically sums up all that I’ve learned on this earth with regards to what a person needs to live a worry free life.
- Health - One can never be too healthy.
- Wealth - when I say wealth, I say within reasonable limits. Too much wealth and you attract the problems that go with that wealth. Like the people who envy you and want what you have. I’ve noticed that the bulging bank accounts go hand in hand with the enemies you collected on the way up.
- Happiness - What’s the point of Health and Wealth if every day you feel like blowing your brains out because of your depression?
- Peace of Mind - You can have all three of the previous I’ve mentioned but if there is that nagging uncertainty in your conscious brought about by forces you can’t control, there goes your health out the window. Be it a harmonious family, love life or work relationship, it pays to never have people and events around you that don’t make have to worry
I would have said fame, but I’ve learned that not all people want fame. Not everyone wants Paparazzi watching their every move them or having their face easily recognizable from a crowd. Some don’t even want love nor family, as some people enjoy being alone or around the company of dogs. I can’t even conclude that dogs actually love us, because all that canine affection that our pooches show us could all be an instinctual need to be part of a pack and to look up to an “Alpha Male.”
There you have it folks, the simple dedication you could put that could have the recipient’s remembering you even after the champagne has stopped flowing. Of course, I make no warranties. The other downside of that list of four, is that Genies only give 3 wishes.
Now that I’ve posted about it, it’s time for me to think of a new dedication, least I be accused of having a lack of originality.
