Talking Loud and Clear
Forgive me for the off-topic post, but I had to document some important Milestones in our son’s life. As of yesterday, he is now officially speaking in two syllables. He refers to me as “dah-dah” or “Dah-deh” while his mother is “mah-mah.” He can also say “ate-hhh” as well as call the family dog “Ugg-ar” or “Ug-leee.”
Prior to that it was just one syllable sounds or gestures with his hands:
- Ah-Ah-Ah - were the cats outside the house or if he wanted you to get something for him
- Eyyyy - were the wheels of the car
- Reaching for the sky was his signal for an airplane passing overhead, birds he see’s or the rain he hears. It’s cute when he confuses the neighbor’s lawn mower for a plane flying overhead.
- Ehhh - were lizards on the ceiling
- Mmmm - was for food
My wife and I are both very happy with this development. Then again, anything my son does is a source of happiness for us. He’s also starting to walk very fast, albeit with assistance from us, pretty soon he’ll be walking on his own. Can’t wait for that. Of course with that development, I might soon be in the market for a toddler’s football helmet with matching knee and elbow pads.
This week also he decided to ween himself off of his mother’s breast milk. Rather than let him miss out on the opportunity of getting good nutrients from natural mother’s milk, my wife has started to work double time on bottling and storing the milk for his later consumption.
I on the other am without a voice to speak with. I lost my voice yesterday because of a worsening infection in my throat. Good thing you only need your hands and eyes to live-blog with *snicker*

What are you taking for your throat? You should gargle with Betadine, at least. Antibiotics, too, if you’re not already on them. Check with your doctor.
