DLSU Chancellor Calls for Calmness and Sobriety
On the eve of the pre-finals series between DLSU and ADMU, the Chancellor of DLSU, Dr. Carmelita I. Quebengco, sent out a letter addressed to the DLSU Community echoing the sentiments of Br. Bernie Oca for La Sallians to behave with dignity during the games even in the face of opposition and insults. Nor should La Sallites be the ones to instigate such acts against the rival team. She also thanked the community for their support to the teams.
First of all, let me thank you for the unwavering support you have exhibited for our student-athletes throughout the current UAAP season. As we move our way into the finals, especially in the men’s basketball games, let me reiterate the call for calmness and sobriety issued by the Director of the Office of Sports Development, Br. Bernard Oca FSC. Let us project positive energy with our cheering, disregard the jeering and insults that may come from supporters and players of the other teams. Let us not bring with us to the games any material that would connote negativism, nor taunt or insult our opponents, their supporters, and their officials.
Let us be true Lasallians in and outside the court by being humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

umm… other teams? like nu would be watching this one…this clearly is a direct insult to the blue eagle supporters. And which side if i dare ask, is more violent and anti-social? (clue: a suspended player’s sucker punching an opponent and after that fellow schoolmates applauding him as he’s being escorted out…talk about class.)

Did it even occur to you that this call may not only be for the game today, but also for succeeding games La Salle may have? Just because the letter was released before the game means that Ateneo is the target. For crying out loud, no school name was mentioned.
It would be really sad and damaging for both schools if something bad happened during the game. It’s an obvious given that everyone wants a clean fight, and that’s what the letter is about.
Its an obvious fact that this “die-hard” “Taenean” is not a true blue Atenean so to speak (Note: the quote-unquote word here is not a direct attack to Ateneo, but i’m referring to this ignorant “VLSALLE Sucks” user).
First of all, everybody wants to see who will win in this battle. Of course, it’s school pride!!! Now if this kind of individual would only post rantings and insults, it takes away the “learnings” that he or she learned from the Institution. In short, WALA KANG BREEDING PARE/MARE!!!
I admire Ateneo for their system, academic achievements and their reputation as one of the best schools in the Philippines. I played against Ateneans during my heydays as a basketball player, but hey, we won against Fonacier before. They never got even with us, so to speak!!! I respect Ateneans, until this shithead posted such nonsense. Don’t let me lose my respect to the Ateneo community. I have friends from Ateneo, and we even don’t talk about basketball when we meet!
