Reggie Miller: No Comebacks

Reggie MillerOn his birthday on the 24th of August, Reggie Miller decided to not do a Michael Jordan and comeback to professional play. This was after he was offered a roster spot on the Boston Celtics. Let’s face it, the guy is 42 years old, what else does he have to prove? Ok Ok, so he doesn’t have a Championship ring? So what?

As a rabid Pacer and Reggie Miller fan I was against him coming back to play for the up and coming Boston Celtics. Yeah yeah, so they were looking for a fourth after loading up on Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen on the off season. But guess what? Marquee names doesn’t always guarantee championships.

Just to name some examples, the fully loaded Portland Trailblazers with Rasheed Wallace, Scottie Pippen, Damon Stoudamire got nowhere and imploded. To cite some more, we even had the Rockets team which had Olajuwon, Pippen and Barkley. That too got nowhere. My most favorite example is the Seattle Sonics team that had Kemp, Payton and Kendal Gil. They were the no.1 seed at that time and got eliminated in the first round by the Denver Nuggets.

To me Reggie, you have nothing to prove, Indiana loves you and moreso the Pacer Fans. But hey if you really want to win a Championship, you can always do it as a Coach *wink* *wink*
