20,000 hits
I know its not much considering the volume of traffic that other famous websites receive, still I just felt about blogging about this milestone. 2006 October, this personal blog of mine had about 5000 hits in its 3 years of existence, getting an average of 200 hits a month. Fast forward almost a year later and it now had 20,000 visitors.
The main reason being my decision to live blog UAAP games in order to test code I made as well as give fans who had no access to a tv a chance to see the play-by-play action of the games.
I was intrigued if a theory I cooked up was actually true, with regards to how a shared site can be designed to deliver web pages during high traffic. I thought the UAAP games would be a great test of that software because the traffic is instantaneous.
Well, so far so good. I’m expecting however that it won’t be able to hold up to very strong traffic like what our local newspapers are getting. The only solution to that kind of traffic would be to get a dedicated server.
Anyway, this site’s 20,000th hit came from the Philippines. The user came in via a search query at Google at about 5:50 PM Philippine Time. Whoever you are, thanks for being my 20,000th visitor. And to the rest who read my live blog of (some) of the UAAP games, Thanks for Visiting my Blog.
Of course I’m expecting traffic to die down again once the UAAP season is over so it might take a while for me to reach the 100,000th visitor milestone that I’m now gunning for.
