UPDATE: UST wins with a final score of 74-87. The hot 3 pt shooting of UST Rookie Khashim Mirza in the 4th broke the game open for UST. He finished the game with 25 pts ,5 reb and 6/7 3pt shooting. Jervy Cruz also brought his usual numbers to the game finishing with 19 pts, 21 rebs and 1 assist. Great game Ateneo!
Dubbed as the rematch of last years finals, this game didn’t fail to entertain. Off the bat it was a tight game with a lot of lead changes and no clear sign of a winner. That was till the fourth quarter when Rookie Khashim Mirza decided to get just a little bit hotter with his 3 point shooting.
The entire team was probably inspired by his shooting that they decided to become just a little bit more accurate with their shots. Right after a Mirza 3, Jun Cortez contributed a banking 3pt shot, so how lucky is that?
The 4th quarter became the Mirza-Cruz show. Jervy Cruz as usual was the rebounding monster, grabbing 21 rebounds all by himself and frustrating the ADMU “Bigs” by getting them into foul trouble.
Mirza however still has to work on his FT shooting as he missed a lot of FT’s. But hey, he’s still a rookie so the future looks very bright for this very tall and lanky kid.
