UAAP Na!
Today marks the opening of the 70th Season of UAAP Collegiate Basketball. Teams will finally meet each other in the Premier Basketball League in the Philippines: The University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
This is the only Conference that counts, where teams hold nothing back and you lay everything on the line. All that pent up energy will be released for players, coaches and fans alike once that ball goes up to signal the start of the first game of the season.
This is where surprise rookies and new player skills will be revealed. Coaches tactics are no longer hidden like in preseason tournaments. This is where the full roster is the full roster. This is Game Time!
But before that, here’s my hopes for Season 70 of UAAP Basketball:
- That the player’s live the values of sportsmanship, to remain proud in defeat yet humble in victory.
- That the players play their hearts out for nothing but school pride and the desire to improve one’s self
- That the better team win. True victory is determined in the playing court and not in board room decisions
- That no one get’s hurt and that the rosters are healthy. Victory gained through your opponents disadvantage is bittersweet.
- That we remember that after the final buzzer sounds to cast aside school rivalries and remember that we are all Filipino’s living under one Flag.
If I could say one thing to my team (the DLSU Green Archers), to cheer them on, it would be to paraphrase a line from the movie “300″.
May your arrows blot out the sun, so that you can play basketball in the shade… *snicker*

bakit po ba ang mga referee sa court hindi vigilant sa laro? Baka po may favoritism gyan ha? i’m a fan of the UAAP Seasons…. Kahapon po, bakit walang foul sa ‘pag shot ng Ateneo dapat nag-free throw sila kasi foul ‘yon ng La Salle… Hindi nyo po ba nakikita o you never try to see it… sa susunod na season sa hindi na maulit… Unprofessional your mga referee nyo…..
