Dog Lovers and Bloggers
These are the two circles of friends that my world revolves around in right now and being with these two groups made me notice some peculiar similarities between the two groups of similar interests whenever they meetup.
When bloggers meet, the most common introduction is name + blog url. More often than not, this is the norm if you keep a private profile on your blog and are therefore indiscernible from the entire blogging community. During these meet ups:
- Bloggers talk about blogging (what else?)
- Exchange email addresses, phone no, calling cards (with email addresses, phone no’s and blog url(s).)
- Exchange tips and tricks on one’s blogging platform, SEO, AdSense, etc etc.
- They usually take pictures of the meetup as if they were on a “touristy” vacation.
- Afterwards they write a post about the meet up while spreading some link love to those wonderful new bloggers that they’ve just met.
When Dog Lovers meet up after introducing their names they state what breed of dog they have with them and its name. During these meetups:
- They usually bring their dog along for the others to get to know their dog (the others dogs too included).
- They exchange phone no’s, email addresses and calling cards (with phone no’s and email addresses).
- Discussion revolves around: who’s selling this breed, who’s bitch just gave birth, how many survived, what pedigree and awards did the dog win or why I don’t enter my dog’s in shows, who’s your vet?, whats a good anti parasitic shot?, what do you feed your dog? etc etc
- They usually take pictures of the meetup as if they were on a “touristy” vacation.
- Afterwards they share the pictures on the online dog lovers forum that they all met at
Definitely the similarities are due to the typical “online behaviour” that prevails in people living in the 21st Century brought about by their easy access to communications technology and information. Which just begs the question… So what do 9 month old babies talk about when they meet up? *snicker*
