Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2007
Here’s my entry to Janette’s contest which helps to promote new and emerging blogs that have the potential to make it big in the blogosphere. I have to point out that this list is partial to Davao blogs, primarily because these are the circle of blogs that I frequent having hailed from Davao myself.
- Ang Dabawenyo - Blogie Robillo’s blog on Davao and all things great about it. This is a streetwise and first hand view of Davao. Even if you’ve lived in a place for more than 3 decades, its still interesting to realize that there are a lot of things you can discover about it. I on the other hand have been 3 decades away, so I have a lot of catching up to do.
IT Talks - An extension of Blogie’s recently revived column at Sunstar Davao, an indication that the “Blogster” has gotten his writing groove back.- Davao BlogSpace - An aggregator of all great blogs in Davao. You could smirk and say, “Not Another Blog Aggregator?” Blogie however does his best to keep the quality of the site by ensuring that only qualified blogs get to join this Davao Aggregator. A first I have to say, for a City to have it’s own blog aggregator so that you can get a peek into what’s bugging the Davao blogosphere.
- Letters to Mikee - I can relate to Mark’s blog, which tries to impart some wisdom and experience to his son through the written form, as being both a father and a son. What better use can technology have?, than to impart our experiences, that took a lifetime for us to attain, to the next generation? I once chanced upon letters between my Dad and Grandfather. Written in the 50’s when my Dad was trying to blaze his trail in Mindanao, knowledge imparted by his Dad to him at that time I felt also enriched me as I read their words decades later.
- Studies in Technopreneurship - Yet another great blog from Mark, this time on his forte which is IT. These are one of the types blogs, that after a year of constant posting, on quality alone can merit publication into a book
- Ubuntu Living - Dominique Cimafranca’s Blog on Ubuntu. Dom eats, breathes and lives Ubuntu and this is his outlet for it. With my constant flirtation with Ubuntu (I keep my pc dual booted to Ubuntu), who knows?, I might soon go the full monty and ditch Windows altogether after more frequent exposure to Dom’s blog.
- Darn Slick Gadgets - Just in case you didn’t know that Andrew also has a tech blog. The guy behind ratified, dotastrategy and Alleba, on merit alone for his past work, sure puts some heavy weight to the stuff he posts there.

Thanks Marc for this! I hope they will create their own entries too. I noticed though that IT Talks blog archive goes way back to 2005 that may make it hard to be classified as a new blog, but revitalized or re-launched instead. Feel free to update so you can maximize it up to 10. Thanks!
Wow! Thanks for this Marc! I’m really flattered.
Yeah, my I.T.Talks! blog started in 2004 actually. It was revived in 2005, then re-revived in 2007. Hehehe..
Thanks for the vote, Marc!
