A Time to Remember our Departed Ones

flowers_jonathan_dietric_01.pngI was mentioning to my wife that I had a feeling that my deceased Dad was trying to make us remember him. This was the month that he died and somebody told me before that our loved ones visit us on their death anniversary to remind us to pray for them.

Two times he made some actions to get me to notice. First was by dropping some kitchen utensils in the middle of the night while I was working on my laptop in the living room. When I ran to the kitchen there were no utensils on the floor. Second was by slamming the door in our toilet the preceding night… when I ran over there the door was very much open. On the third day I went to the Church to have Mass said for him. The night that followed was uneventful.

I often tell people, when the topic touches on ghost stories, that I am Third Eye Blind. Meaning that I’ve lived in houses with known spirits as inhabitants, but not once have I had any contact with them… considering that I like to stay up late till the wee hours of the morning. And that is the very reason I believe that spirits who contact me are those who are very dear to me.

I hope that once I have passed on from this world, my relatives will still remember me and pray for my soul. The only way I can ensure that is being passing on this practice of mine, to pray for all the souls of my relatives, to my son and the future children that my wife and I are hoping to have. That’s why it pays to always treat your children and relatives well, because they are ones who are more inclined to remember you when you have already gone to your eternal rest.
