oni3.jpgInitially I was live blogging the game… then 8 minutes into the first quarter my son woke up… with mommy not around guess who’s job it is to pacify/entertain him? *me*… yep I’m the MAN today… Oh well, it was fun explaining to him the game, he was listening patiently, inbetween bouts of crying because he wanted to be fed and I had to change his diapers…

I wasn’t really surprised with the outcome. With Ateneo having an inexperienced line up, compared to the Archers battle tested veterans, I was expected from the beginning that it would be a La Salle win… Not to mention that Coach Black handed the coaching chores again to Gabby Severino and with Chris Tiu being the only veteran starter playing. Kudos to the Ateneo however for keeping it close… what sealed the momentum for the Archers was the 3rd quarter sequence wherein they were able to initiate 3 simultaneous turnovers which culminated in a 12 pt lead… from then on they were only able to get within 5 points(?) when the Archers got their groove going again after slacking off a bit in the fourth quarter to seal the win…

Ilad was a revelation, his foot work and speed at the lower block was awesome and exciting to watch. Too bad that because of La Salle’s suspension he still can’t play next year as he completes his residency which will leave him only 1 year left eligible to play. Dizon was interesting to watch also on the ADMU side because he was a hard worker and killed La Salle on some three’s he made. Marko, the European import for La Salle showed flashes of his game as he fronted his man and drove to the hoop to score… which just shows that he wasn’t built to be a center/forward, but rather a SF/Shooter… defensive players shouldn’t expect him to back them down to score… too bad though that he sprained his ankle and had to be taken out of the game and not allowed to finish it anymore.

In the game prior to the Seniors game, LSGH defeated Ateneo High School… the Man-Child, Ferdie Ferdinand, was also quite a revelation… this guy is just in his third fourth year but and boy can he shoot… not to mention how tall he is… I only caught the last part of the game as I just came home from picking some friends up at Eden Resort… it was neck and neck till the bitter end… the game was won on free throws… wherein a La Salle player who was a lousy foul shooter, got fouled and sent to the basket wherein he was able to convert both free throws and gain a 1 pt lead… If it didn’t go in it would have been a sweet victory for the Ateneo Highschool… as down by two with only a few seconds remaining (I think it was 23) they opted to go for a three pt shot that the inbounder took and made…

Moment’s like that you just can’t forget… the game yes… but being able to spend a sunday afternoon with your son and teaching him the greatest game that was ever made being played on the greatest league ever put together… unforgettable… at 2 months old, I think my son got a grasp of what I was babbling about *snicker*
