PeopleSupport’s Davao Recruitment Office
PeopleSupport Philippine’s president and vice president for Global Operations Bong Borja said that they have plans of putting up a call center in Davao during the opening of their recruitment office… he did not elaborate however if there were any concrete plans…. all they have is a recruitment center where they hire people and ship them off to their offices in Cebu or Manila.
Either way, we are still exporting Davao City’s labor force to other provinces… taxes which could have been collected from this workforce is going to benefit other City’s coffers…
So I’m not totally impressed by People Support’s presence here as a sign of commitment to the growth of the city… However, I would like to find out why they only put up a recruitment facility? What’s preventing them from setting up here? lack of incentives? or this perceived negative and violent atmosphere that Davao City is suppossed to have? They should ask all the foreigners who’ve made Davao their home before coming to that conclusion…
