False Labor

Two days ago my wife woke me up telling me that she was in labor… The signs were all there, pain in her back and her thighs, constant contractions at constant intervals of 10 min each… my wife already packed everything a couple of weeks before and I brought along my laptop bag and all the stuff I needed for work… a few minutes more from Brokenshire hospital and she said that the pain was increasing, so I gunned the engine even more… I was thinking that every minute would count just incase her water broke in the car…

Straight into the ER we got the advice to go immediately to the Delivery Room… a very familar place for us… after a few more tests of her contractions she was advised to be admitted immediately with 4 minute contractions spaced 10 min apart and a 2 cm open cervix… after admitting her to the DR, booking her room and making sure that all the stuff she would need was with her; I stepped out to do what fathers normally do when the mothers are in labor…

Light up…. fantasizing in the parking lot that in a couple of hours I’m going to be carrying my son in my arms…

After smoking I came back to check up on her, incase she would want something to eat… my wife then told me that she lost her contractions… HUWATTT???… I texted everybody I knew that she was in labor; so because of that I spent quite a long time texting everybody back that it could be false labor… hold the panic buying of the fruits! hehehe…

To which they informed me to keep them in touch… The doctor instructed us to walk around so as to encourage the contractions… which we did for a couple of hours… so far, no cigar… we would get a couple of contractions but not consistent in interval and intensity…

The doctor advised us to spend the night for further observation… during the night she would get 2 contractions every 30 min, but again the intensity’s were not consistent (some strong, some mild)… the following day we were advised to be discharged already. We just had to monitor the contractions and have her water bag checked with an ultrasound machine to ensure that she hadn’t dried up…

Funny thing at the hospital’s Delivery Room, was that it wasn’t as fully booked as when we initially went there… they said that it was seasonal thing also… to think that I was assuming to see a lot of pregnant women in the DR because the babies were all conceived during the previous years Christmas Holidays… hehehe… and of course, call me a boob for not forgetting all the stuff I needed for work, but forgot instead to pack a fresh set of clothes for me to use..
