Driving Tips…

My wife and I went to SM Davao after going to anticipated mass… the traffic was horrendous because of the Kadayawan Sale… what was worse was when we were going home… a strong downpour while we were in SM flooded a lot of streets in the City… the effect of which was that there were a lot of stalled cars who got their engine flooded… a good tip when driving through flooded waters (which can’t be avoided) is to keep your foot on the gas… that way no water can enter via the exhaust pipe… the best advice however, is to wait for the waters to subside…

Another after effect of having cars driving through flooded waters is a lot of rear-end collisions… I saw a three car collision on the way home and then some… the effect of having your brakes flooded is that you lose friction on the brakes… it’s good practice to pump your brakes a few times after driving through some water to get the grip back on the brakes…

I got home a whole lot later than usual because of the floods and the traffic accidents… once again I’m going to remark: that in Davao we have no typhoons… but when it rains it pours… flash floods all around… for me this has got to be the worse experience of flooding in Davao… but just like an afterthought, the flooding will disappear after a few hours…
