This is one way to kill Davao City Tourism… some guests of ours landed in the Davao International Airport and were going to take a cab to our house… the taxi’s were charging them 800.00 for the ride… whoa! I don’t remember our house being in Digos, I asked them what particular taxi so we could complain to the operators… he said, all of them when he moved from one lined up taxi to another…

wow! conspiracy among the taxi drivers at the international airport… they didn’t want to put up their meters but rather wanted to pay a fixed rate…

Our guest ended up taking a van which charged them P400.00…

As a Davaoeno I feel ashamed for guests visiting this great city of ours… We should have a visitor complaint booth at our airport…

Update: List of Davao Taxi’s here

Wow. I flew in Wednesday night and as we were paying the parking fee on exit I noticed each and every taxi was having to stop and let the police open the passenger door and look in - it seemed to me at the time that they were checking to see if the meter was on.

Maybe this is something that got nipped in the bud … don’t know.

Huh? And I’m so proud of our “honest” taxi drivers in Davao. Aba, isumbong nga kay Duterte ang mga lintek na yan. :P

[…] A while back I was complaining about unscrupulous taxi drivers in the Davao Airport who would charge you an exorbitantly high fixed rate once you got in their cab. Then they were also in cahoots with the other taxi drivers there so that everybody was charging the same thing. Well that is a thing of the past already. I just arrived in Davao from my flight in Manila and as I headed to the taxi area a very friendly TMC cop clad in their green uniform politely asked me if I was looking for a cab. I said yes and he then gave me a slip of paper and directed me to where the cab’s were neatly lined up. It was a complaint form against taxi drivers addressed to the Mayor’s Office with a number to call. […]
