Bad experience at the Brokenshire Hospital Ultrasound Department.

I’m fuming because of my experience at the Brokenshire Hospital’s Ultrasound Department.

My wife and I rushed there from the recommendation of our doctor to have her checked right away because of the 3 pre term labor contractions she had experienced today. If the results were bad, we had to check her in immediately.

We arrived there at 3 PM, well before their 5PM closing time. They turned us away because the doctor had to leave for another appointment in another hospital. My wife pleaded with them if she could make an exception because the nature of our request is an emergency. They said “No”. Because there are still 2 pending patients in line and in the hospital that the doctor is going to there are already 2 appointments waiting. They were actually recommending us to transfer to that hospital. WTF? knowing that we will be the 5th in line? in a FUCKING emergency (there I cursed already in this frikking blog)

I asked to see a telephone directory so that i could call up an alternate hospital. I was so near to crying that I had to speak in english to prevent from breaking down into tears. My wife told me that she was going to the toilet in the clinic.

One of the nurses remarked when I left that I was bastos for slamming the door behind me (which I did not do) and I was mad because my wife was having pre-term labor and they turned me away. To her surprise of course when my wife poked out of the toilet. My wife then calmly explained to her that her husband is just worried with her condition and the threat that we could lose our son. She of course profusely apologized. Yeah right, because you fell into one of those “Oh Shit” moments.

We transferred to the Alexian Brothers Health and Wellness Clinic in Matina Highway. There our fears were laid to rest as the doctor assured us that everything is ok. More bed rest for my wife. This time we really have to make sure that she doesn’t move around so much anymore in the house.

What pisses me off is how apathetic these people have become to the plight of others. I mean, must they have to see blood for them to start having concern for the people who walk in asking for help? It’s not like we weren’t going to pay? And why should the doctor leave before 5PM? Does the hospital know that she’s holding clinics in other hospitals well within the timespan she should be at Brokenshire?

I have nothing against Brokenshire, in fact it’s a very good hospital with great facilities which I would recommend any day to anybody looking for a hospital. The management did a supurb job of turning the company around. My beef is only with the rotten apples at the Ultrasound department that were indifferent to my son being in danger. There I’d recommend people to go to Alexian Brother’s Ultrasound department. It was a bit cheaper to and the doctor was uber friendly. M-W-F the doctors are Male in the morning while the Female doctors come in during the afternoon. Just incase you’re embarassed to have a male doctor touching your pregnant belly.

Note to my son who might read this in the future : Anak, this was the day your dad felt like throwing two people off of the second floor for being apathetic.
