And in conclusion…
After days of testing (a week actually)…

I’ve come to the conclusion… that in the land of the Linux OS’s… the Ubuntu flavor is king… for ease of use and because of it’s large community base…
I think I just did a right hand turn there… I used to endorse Redhat (didn’t bother with mandrake because of it tanking and me concerned about it every having any support base) and now I’m going with Ubuntu… I guess one reason was because I was a bit uneasy with Fedora not being supported directly by Redhat…
I liked the Breezy Badger 5.10 server disk they were offering, because it installed only the essential files that a server would need… not to mention that Synaptic package manager is such a powerful GUI based installer. In place of that in the command line they had the apt-get command, which was very easy to use… why is that? because of adequate documentation and a support forum.
I also did some security testing on the server checking for open ports and found none… development on the server is going to be bleeding edge because PHP5 and Apache2 are the default installs… might as well start using it now…
OK… now to go type up the paper work…
