Larry Fonacier is the clear leader in the PBA’s rookie of the year award garnering the highest score in statistical points (1,521) Coming from the pre play-offs he was in fifth place, but because his team eventually won the championship he was able to pile on more points.

In the UAAP, he was a force to be reckoned with. Finally emerging from the shadow of his upperclassmen (Villanueva, Alvarez and Gonzales) to be the focal point of the team. He was the undisputed go-to-guy for them in 2003 2004 and he delivered.

These past few months I’ve been pro-bono-”ing” a group of com sci upperclassmen on their thesis. I got word a few days ago that they passed their panel defense with only minor revisions… good enough, because I was feeling guilty that I wasn’t able to give them any more help with a mock defense as I was out of the city at that time.

Of course most of the grunt work was done by them as I only gave advise so the credit should go to them for their success.

What did I get out of this? The satisfaction that I was able to give something back to the community that I came from.
