So there was this post in reddit that featured the current trend in job postings for lisp, smalltalk, ruby, haskell, python… it shows that python beats everybody by a mile when it comes to demand for programmers with these skillsets…

However…

When I modified the search based on the popular application languages… Java,C#,VB, python…

Java wins hands down… but we can notice that the overall trend is heading downward which is the same for the near End of Life language that is VB… C# however seems to be slowly increasing…

In the area of web scripting…comparing ASP, PHP and JSP

ASP rules… what’s scary though is that the variance is quite high as compared to the constant demand in JSP and PHP

And for the question, which has more job openings : Developer, System Administrator, Network Administrator or System Analyst.

Just goes to show that once the network and hardware is in place, it’s the developers & SA’s who need more bodies filled… What this data fails to mention however, is which has the higher paying job *snicker*…

In the Database Arena, Oracle clocks the most, then SQL server then finally MySQL.

In LP, Concert is still more in demand than ILOG coders…

Data taken from indeed’s jobtrends
