The Year That Was - 2005
The great thing about having a blog, if you are consistent poster, is that you can look back at stuff that happened to you during a years time… of course some things which weren’t posted I added here too.
1. Visited tagaytay with my wife - never brought her there when we were still dating because I broke up with my ex of 6 1/2 years right after I brought her there… call it a stupid superstition…
2. Bought a PDA - finally added some structure to my life
3. Programmed my first PHP site for public consumption - the first… not exactly the greatest… but definitely not the last…
4. Pistons Eliminate Pacers in the Play off’s and Reggie Miller Retires - so long old 31… you were my most favorite player in the NBA
5. Left a dream job to go back to the homeland to take care of my mother and take a shot at being an entrepreneur - that basically summed up all I had to say about that.
6. Compressed National Gas Bus plying EDSA - hope for an oil-import dependent nation.
7. Pope John Paul Dies - The end of an era… I still remember the crowd chanting… John Paul II, We Love You, during the World Youth Day celebration in the Philippines a decade ago.
8. Fired my first employee - for theft.
9. Hired our first employee - to replace the thieving one.
10. Started a company - Hired myself and my wife and set up a food concession stand in one of the university’s in Davao
11. Closed a company - Fired myself and my wife from the food concession stand we were running and am now unemployed… you just have to know when to let go of a business… especially when the people you are dealing with like to flip-flop on what was agreed upon to their advantage as well as impose exclusivity contracts with beverage vendors on you that definitely stifle your sales.
12. Revenge of the Sith - the end of an epic…
13. Planted bananas - yup, another business to enter into.
14. Spurs win 2005 championships
15. La Salle wins the UAAP Basketball crown but forfeits due to player ineligibilities - Massive cleansing of staff occurs. Fate of La Salle in the UAAP is still up in the air pending an investigation by the UAAP board.
16. La Salle Juniors win the UAAP 2005 Men’s Basketball Championship - the first time in schools history- nope no controversy there, they won it fair and square.
17. Got threatened by a drunk man for not selling him beer past the city mandated liquor ban.
18. Massive Credit card breech shakes the confidence of many in e-commerce
19. PHP is now 10 years old
20. SmartWIFI powers the Hoopaddict’s blogging experience - it hasn’t been a bump free ride because of lousy and often intermittent connections…
21. Raul Roco dies
22. Haydee Yorac dies
23. Ebay is 10 years old
24. ABS-CBN debuts Pinoy Big Brother - milks it for what it’s got - even when the show has already been finished… not to mention at the expense of their star search show…
25. Longest I have stayed in Davao - during my entire existence.
26. 1st year as a married guy
27. Joined a group blog created by Abe
