He just wanted his $60 bucks back
Here’s a funny story which could be aptly described as David vs Goliath…
Microsoft and it’s army of Lawyers sue’s a college student for selling student priced versions ($60 for microsoft XP and office) of it’s software on eBay… the funny thing was that he was trying to return it to them and they didn’t want to refund him. So what’s a guy who earns $3k to do? sell it on ebay for $91… and they sue him for “irreparable injury to its business reputation and goodwill” as well as unfair competition (for a $143.50 profit compared to microsoft’s billions?)… well there were some other stuff mentioned in the suit.
In the end, the kid won and got a settlement… Cool!
The only point I could add here is… I wish they offerred the $60 edition of microsoft XP and Office to students here in the Philippines… heck… make it even cheaper… students can’t afford that kind of software… how’s that for building customer loyalty?
