Yup, that was the first thought that came into my mind too… but with the trend of Google and Microsoft trying to get into the Internet Voice Communication biz… I think ebay is trying to be more than just a buy & sell site… just like Google was trying to be more than just a search engine company … and the plot thickens…
Maybe they want bidders to have the ability to talk with the sellers (and vice versa) just by clicking a button on their site.
Then again… they don’t need to buy the company to be able to do that.
