A Slashdot article highlights netcraft’s data of a 2.76 million worth of domain name registrations for the month of june…

It is the second highest no of monthly registrations tallied by Netcraft, surpassed only by the 3.3 million logged for the month of March 2003.

To quote verbatim from the netcraft site.

Factors in the dramatic growth include:

* Increasing use of the Internet by small businesses as web sites and online storefronts become more affordable.
* The explosive growth of weblogs, a growing number of which are purchasing domains for branding purposes.
* Speculation in the market for domain names, buoyed by rising resale prices and the ability to generate revenue via pay-per-click advertising on parked domains.
* Strong sales of online advertising, especially keyword-based contextual ads that support business models for both domain parking and commercial weblogs.

So to paraphrase Austin Powers, Blog users… take a bow!

Something always has to have a string attached… with the advent of the internet and cheaper access rates… we have become more productive and life moves a little bit faster than a decade ago… but with this we have incurred a toxic by-product, known as internet addiction… addiction to internet games and chatrooms… article

Some look at it as sword hanging over soceity… but like most addictions, it can be cured… and a new economy has cropped up to take care of this need to cure internet addicts… don’t you just love the law of economics… supply and demand?

I have to say though that there is an easier way to keep your addiction in check… it’s called a job… hehehe

Starwars: Clone Wars

Clone Wars were a series of cartoon shorts in the Cartoon network. From what I remember, the animators were the same guys who gave us Samurai Jack. I think they were given free hand by George Lucas to develop the cartoon based on a storyline plot that he gave. Talk about wetting our apetites for Episode 3 as well as fill in the gaps between episode 2 and 3. It’s basically old formula already, as the Wachowski brothers already did this with the Animatrix for the Matrix Series.
