Provincial Cops…
I parked in the corner of a main intersection in the local Binondo equivalent known as Uyanguren… unable to find a suitable parking space I squezeed myself inbetween a van and a telephone pole…
My wife got out to go buy my weed killer as well as the seeds she would be needing for her little garden in a store adjacent to us…
Taking a whole lot longer than anticipated the cop who was manning the intersection suddenly approached me… I was thinking instinctively… uh-oh… it must be merienda time… I wonder what trumped up charge he’s thinking of giving me… he proceeded to look at the back of my vehicle… I thought he was getting my license plate no already for the ticket…
I put down my window and asked him what the problem was… he said that some cars almost side swipped me because they were using the curb to make a right turn and he was checking the back if I had been hit… he asked if I could put it in a little further so as to prevent this from happening… I told him that it’s ok since my wife is already coming in so I would be leaving already… he then said that he’ll help me get out of my spot, so he held up the traffic so that I could back out…
Talk about a nice guy. I guess that’s one of the great things in Davao, the traffic cops aren’t as barako and they really help driver’s out… then again, that’s what I’ve experienced by myself. So maybe it was really a good decision to transfer here.
