Coop store…
Wifey and I have taken the earnings from our Ice sales to start a cooperative store for the employees of the resort I’m working at.
I chanced upon this idea a few weeks back when I saw one of the employees buy some softdrinks and food from us. We usually do a mark-up of 40% in order to cover the cost of electricity(ughhh) and gasoline as well as our help’s salaries… In line with that I got to thinking that it would be a crime to charge these guys 40% with there salaries and all…
Talking with wifey, she came up with this idea to use the money from the ice to start this coop of ours. So this week, with that money we bought some stuff for the employees to purchase at slightly above than the purchase price. We got help from the resort manager to query the employees on what stuff they would like us to carrry for them.
The softdrinks are at purchase price because it get’s delivered by Coca Cola to us directly, so no gasoline expense on our part. Except for the snacks, which I had wifey add + 1 peso to cover the transportation cost. The alchohol and cigarettes however I retained at 40%… I wouldn’t want to encourage them to drink and come in wasted the following day with lung cancer… the resort manager would kill me… hehehe
And that was my good deed for the month of may.
