BCC vs CC

A lot of people don’t know the benefits of sending a mass email via BCC instead of CC… as a starter… CC is carbon copy and BCC is blind carbon copy… if you put your recepients in the CC tag, their email addresses will be visible to all the other recipients… as with BCC, their email addresses won’t be visible to other recipients…

The benefit of course being:
1. You don’t bother your reader with a long list of email addresses he/she has to scroll down to before reaching the kernel of truth…
2. Email addresses of people who don’t want their email addresses to be made public won’t be seen… of course, that doesn’t keep you safe from prying eyes determining who you sent this email out to… but that’s another post altogether.

The reason for me writing this is more on the no. 2 . An acquiantance sent out an email stating that “he/she” had a new email address… and she unwitingly placed the recipients in CC… the bad thing about it?, is that she works for the television industry… hence all these famous people’s addresses were there… ho hummm…
