From the Philippine Star again

Marketing gurus claimed that we are exposed to more than 1,400 advertising messages per day. With that amount of competition, it is very hard to get your customer’s attention, no matter who you are. So hard that on average, people remember just one of those 1,400 messages. This is a dismal success rate. The time it is advisable to spend on advertising and PR is when you have a big and very profitable repeat sales opportunity. Advertising and PR best serve when firms want to make an immediate sale or when they want to bring in new customers. Otherwise, marketing gurus said that advertising, promotions, and PR should be used mostly to retain customers.
